Well, I think I experienced the future of gaming last night. It was both awesome and I don’t like it at all, simultaneously. If you have Amazon Prime, you have access to Luna:

It actually has some decent games that you can stream-play for no additional charge (just your Prime membership) from just about any device.
For example: Connect a PS5 controller to your phone or tablet, and that’s all you really need (besides an internet connection).
I fired up Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy (great game, btw, very underrated and unfortunately went under a lot of people’s radar). Over my home wi-fi at night (read: kids in bed and not bogarting all the bandwidth) they ran like my phone was a gaming PC. It was impressive, to say the least. It was actually kinda nuts.

With both Sony’s and Microsoft’s next consoles looking to be $1k+, I think streaming is going to be the option many players turn to over the next decade or so. Not sure if it will look like movies, and we’ll have Sony, M$, Nintendo, Steam, etc. services, just like we have Netflix, Max, Hulu, Paramount+, etc. Or perhaps we will still have the option to purchase game licenses for $80+, but we just never download the game; we simply stream it directly from the publisher or some central coalition.

Whatever it ends being, it all sounds terrible. Even though it IS awesome to play a great-looking version of The Great Circle on my freakin’ phone!
