One of the major deterrents to Christianity today believe it or not is the church. If you watch many of the de-conversion videos on you tube and social media you come away with similar themes - I had questions the church never provided an answer for, they said they and God loved me but all I experienced was a canned sermon, none of the people who went to the church actually knew or spoke about the Bible (or lived it), the few church leaders barely gave me the time of day when I needed help, where was God when I was in need, where was God when a family member was sick and dying, where is God now with all the starvation around the world, why is there all this pointless suffering and on and on.
What has been your experience?

Like Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Since they’re so self-sufficient, it’s difficult for rich people to acknowledge God, to acknowledge that they’re sinners and actually need help. That they need a Savior like everyone else.
And make no mistake, we are an exceedingly rich nation. Even at poverty levels, people in the U.S. live a quality of life that would have been considered rich in this country a 100+ years ago, and are considered rich today by many global standards.
That’s what I see in the church. A whole lotta self-sufficient rich people that do everything on their own (seemingly without God—even though everything is His and comes from Him—or help from the body), and who expect everyone else to do the same. They spend all their time and effort on remaining self-sufficient, and have little or no time leftover to know God better or help others.
I’m probably over-generalizing, and not a little projecting, but yeah, that has been my experience and observations.
